Economic empowerment underlies all programs and services of the Fort Wayne Urban League (FWUL) Inc. Therefore, FWUL’s Economic Empowerment Center targets under-served youth, adults and families, including Asset Limited, Income Challenged populations, by providing financial education and skills-based training that help increase their knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for attaining economic self-reliance.
FWUL's Economic Empowerment Center integrates all of our Employment Department Programs and Services to address comprehensive socio-economic needs of constituents; FWUL's Employment Department through our workforce training, provides bi-weekly workforce development workshops, one-on-one job counseling, referrals, placements, financial education, and pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship training across 5 industry sectors and a fee for service reliable staffing services for short term and longer-term job placements.
We concentrate on those constituents with greatest economic needs. However, we serve a diverse constituency ranging from poor and disadvantaged to middle class income populations. We provide workforce career development opportunities to high school dropouts, seniors, veterans and ex-offenders. Provides screening, employability skills training, counseling, job referrals and placement. The FWUL also, conducts specialized career/job fairs throughout the year.
